I leave the noisy questions to be answered by those who have more experience of the Savage (I'm still looking for my first one, remember that if yoy stumble on a nice one in Germany/Holland for sale) but being a blacksmith I can tell you all you need to know about the colours. They tell you how hot your exhaust/muffler gets. Light brown, like last years grass, means it has been about 230 degrees (Celsius) hot. When it turns blueish, the temp has been about 250 deg. And, if it gets hotter than that, the blueish colour will fade away and there will not be any particular colour left. That is why I do not polish. I want to know how hot it gets.
Thump on ye colourful people !
Peter.
